Javier is originally from Lima, Peru. He did his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM). Before starting grad school he worked in the non-metallic mining and processing industry, then he enrolled in the chemical engineering doctoral program at NC State in the Fall of 2016. His research is focused on developing a network to model the aging biology of C. elegans. He enjoys reading about 19th century history, playing boardgames, and listening classical music.
